GARY STRAUSS MUSIC
About Me
Hello,
My name is Gary Ross Strauss. I am a musician, composer, trumpet player, and singer-songwriter. I was educated at Berklee College of Music and The Juilliard School. I have had the privilege of playing and recording with some of the finest musicians. I started writing music when I was 15 years old. However, I kept playing and performing other people's songs until I decided I was ready to write my own music. I believe we all have a calling in life, and music is mine. I am here to share my feelings through my music. My inspiration comes from within, a deep well of emotions and experiences that I draw upon to create. My influences are vast and eclectic, a rich tapestry of sounds and styles that shape my work. I admire Bob Dylan for his poetic lyrics, Miles Davis for his groundbreaking jazz, and Richard Rodgers for his timeless melodies. Cole Porter's sophisticated wit, George Gershwin's fusion of classical and jazz, and Aaron Copland's evocative Americana also resonate deeply with me. I find inspiration in the experimental works of Charles Ives, the intricate compositions of Bach, the emotional depth of Brahms, and the monumental symphonies of Beethoven. Duke Ellington's jazz orchestra and Handel's baroque masterpieces further enrich my musical palette. Their collective genius inspires me to blend genres, to create a sound that is uniquely my own, a harmonious convergence of the old and the new, the familiar and the innovative. I am inspired by my idols to write and sing from what I truly believe. Music is the channel through which I express my feelings and ideals. I sing from my experiences and the way I view life. I want my music to communicate who I am and what I believe in. But I find it hard to write about my accomplishments. If you really want to find out who I am, please listen to my music.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
Gary Strauss
